The colony of British Bechuanaland was not in membership of the UPU until it was annexed to Cape of Good Hope on 16 November 1895.

Notes

Catalogue and specimen type numbers in columns headed BBS are those used by The Bechuanaland and Botswana Society.
Submitted to UPU in 1890 as the result of a special arrangement to distribute stationery (and stamps) in use in non-member British dependencies.
Exists with F for second E in SPECIMEN.
Exists with F for second E in SPECIMEN also with SPECIMEN double.
Exists with SPECIMEN double and inverted.
The wrapper exists printed on pale yellowish buff and deep buff paper. The UPU specimen is on the pale yellowish buff paper.
