Classification of specimen types

UPU member as British Colony from 1 January 1895 and as one of the British Colonies and Protectorates in South Africa from 1 January 1899. Represented by the Union of South Africa from 1 June 1910.

Postage stamps of Cape of Good Hope were distributed by the UPU without any form of specimen protection. There is no evidence that any postal stationery was distributed other than in normal unused condition.

This is confirmed by Quik and Jonkers who do not list any specimen postal stationery.
